*** CB RADIO *** HELP?

I am wanting to get a CB Radio for my bronco, but want to know if i should. What could i use it for/ hear? Could i listen to police/fire stuff, or would i need to get a scanner? What is a good one to get for around $100? Thanks for answering!!!
